This historic renovation and addition will serve as a new corporate retreat for a regional plumbing supply company. The Retreat will also be shared as a guest house for visitors of the local Kimball Union Academy. The dual functions of this program presented an interesting challenge, yet the building will be thus used regularly for various occasions.

My involvement with this project included initiating the drawing set, leading the production team from schematic design through construction documents. I coordinated with the structural engineering consultant and interior designers, resolving design questions and changes as construction began. I led regular site meetings and managed construction administration up through the drywall installation phase in March 2006.

Three bedrooms and the renovated living room occupy the original house. The addition includes a fourth bedroom, laundry, a second egress stair, expanded dining room, new kitchen, buffet and a new porch. The main feature of the addition is the vaulted boardroom with views across the meadows overlooking the KUA campus.

Coordinating with interiors by DPF Design, the Retreat captures the historic nature of this guest home, and brings new energy through vibrant color and details.
